Dear Friends:
Have you started working on your New Year's Resolutions for 2015?
If you haven't, now is a good time to reflect on all you've accomplished in 2014 and what you'd like to achieve in 2015.
I believe in New Year's Resolutions because it gives you a focus on what
you'd like to accomplish. It's important to write them down, review
them often (monthly or quarterly are good benchmarks to set), share them
with a trusted friend to help with accountability and reward yourself
for your accomplishments.
I think one of the reasons many people fail at New Year's Resolutions
because they don't revisit their goals throughout the year after they've
been set at the beginning of the year. You can't miss this step. It's
one of the most important steps to accomplishing your goals. It helps
keep you motivated to stay the course on your goals. This step can make
the difference between success and failure.
If you stick to these rules, you'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish!
I wish you all the best. I know that 2015 will be your breakthrough year!! I wish you much success in the new year.
Much love,

In Loving Memory of Dr. Maya Angelou
I'm saddened by the recent death of Dr. Maya Angelou. She was such an incredible human being and a phenomenal woman. Her words will live on for generations to come.
This is a beautiful tribute from Yolanda Adams:
"We have lost one of the most eloquent, elegant and powerful Articulators of Spoken Word and Education. Dr. Maya Angelou was a mentor who taught us all how to overcome and enjoy life as GOD wants us to. If you have not, please watch her Soul Sunday with Oprah: http://bit.ly/1mqc5I6 It will change your life!! She will be missed!!" -- Yolanda Adams

Your health is number one!
Benita's Lesson of the Day: Your health should be your number one priority! #lesson
A week ago, I was told by my doctor that my blood pressure was dangerously high and I was facing a multitude of health problems. Faced with this knowledge, I decided to make a drastic change with my food choices. Thanks to my friend and fellow Toastmaster, Susan Stoever who introduced me to the "Eat to Live" diet by Dr. Joel Furhman, I now eat healthier for my life. It's a strict diet of mostly fresh fruits and vegetables and beans for the first 6 weeks and then a more relaxed version for life-time maintenance.
I'm happy to report that one week later for my doctor's follow-up visit, my blood pressure was normal. This was exciting news especially since I've been hearing that my pressure has been high with several other doctor's visits I've had. I was counting on a good report because I really didn't want to get on medication.
I will be monitoring my pressure to make sure I stay on track but it's a really great start. I'm so encouraged to keep up this diet and continue with the program.
It was all diet that made the difference. I will be documenting my journey because this was such great news today and validated the program. I do have to say that I feel so much better and more relaxed since I've started making better food choices. I miss certain things like red velvet cake, macaroni & cheese and meat but with the way I feel, I can definitely live without it,
I'm so happy right now I could burst! I encourage everyone out there who are struggling with their health or weight to think about the choices you make when you eat. It makes all the difference in the world. I've just completed week one and already my blood pressure is normal and my clothes are fitting looser. It really makes me feel like I'm headed in the right direction.
I will keep you posted of my progress.
Best wishes and here's to your health!!
